Ukraine's Mar 14-20 sea port grain shipment surged a quarter

In the week of Mar. 14-20, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 1.18 mln t, 26% higher from the previous week's volumes (933 thou. t, as provided by the figures updated), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 272 thou. t;
  • South Korea — 110 thou. t;
  • China — 91 thou. t.

Wheat supply surged 67% in the reporting period and amounted to 284 thou. t vs. the previous week's 170 thou. t. Corn exports intensified by 26% and totalled 835 thou. t. Barley shipment plunged by 40% and amounted to 59 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the handled volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (13.94 mln t). The port of Chernomorsk provided for the transshipment of 10.08 mln t, and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) — 7.95 mln t.

As a reminder, since the start of 2019/20 (July 2019 – June 2020), Ukraine has supplied 44.19 mln t of staple grains to foreign markets. As of Mar. 23, agricultural commodities shipment increased by 7.92 mln t (22%) YoY.
