Health Ministry puts forward chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl MPL in agricultural commodities — document

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine suggests setting maximum permissible levels (MPLs) for chlorpyrifos (CPS) and chlorpyrifos-methyl in agricultural products and foodstuffs at 0.01 mg/kg (mg/l).

The relevant draft order was reviewed by Latifundist.com"On approval of maximum permissible levels of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in agricultural products and foodstuffs and Amendments to hygienic norms and regulations on the safe use of pesticides and agrochemicals".

The order is effective from 1 January 2022.

According to the explanatory note, the ministry's draft order was drawn up in order to determine ways of harmonising domestic regulations with EU directives(incl. Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 February 2005). It is noted that the new EU regulation amends Council Directive No 91/414/EEC regarding the establishment of maximum permissible levels of residues of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl active substances at 0.01 mg/kg.

Setting maximum permissible levels of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl residues will enable the export of quality Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU, the document reads.

The relevant draft order is planned to be signed upon registration with the Ministry of Justice, sources close to the matter told Latifundist.com.
