DB Cargo shipped 1,200 t of Ukrainian corn to German Rostock
A freight train carrying 1,200 tons of corn from Ukraine arrived at the German sea port of Rostock. Three more trains are on their way to the port, NDR reports.
The 21-car freight train arrived Tuesday morning, August 23. The railcars travelled five to eight days from Western Ukraine. The cargo had to be reloaded at the Ukrainian-Polish border. Then DB Cargo delivered the grain to Rostock.
The port representative Jacob Lubig noted that the quality of the grain made a good impression.
He said that there are three more trains coming from Ukraine. It is still unknown where the cargo will be exported from Rostock. Ukrainian grain exports are coordinated by BAT Agrar from Ratzeburg.
Previously reported that Spain tested the profitability of rail shipment of Ukrainian grain too.
