Polish protesters pour Ukrainian grain out of rail car near Medyka checkpoint

On February 20, Polish farmers blocked the railway near the Medyka-Shehyni border checkpoint. They also spilled Ukrainian grain from a freight car onto the tracks, Suspilne reports.

"This is a response to the influx of grain from Ukraine. It is very bad. People are desperate and can't contain themselves. No one controls this: neither the Polish government nor the Ukrainian," says Roman Kondruv, co-organiser of the Polish farmers' protest.

The protesters are pouring out the grain "out of emotion", he added.

"We have no control over people, they can't take it anymore and are spilling it out [grain – ed.]. We are bankrupt because everything is brought from Ukraine uncontrollably," Kondruv explained.

The Polish police arrived at the spot. Less than half an hour later, Polish farmers unblocked the railway.

Poland is investigating the details of the incident that occurred on February 11 near the border with Ukraine in Dorohusk. According to the authority, farmers protesting nearby stopped three Ukrainian trucks and poured grain onto the road.
