Ukraine’s sunflower oil production to decline by about 10% — Ukroilprom
In the 2025/26 season, sunflower oil production in Ukraine is expected to decrease by approximately 10% to 4.6 million tons, compared to 5.1 million tons a year earlier, according to data from the Ukroilprom association.
The decline is driven by a lower sunflower harvest, which limits the raw material base for processing. Sunflower oil exports are also projected to decrease by 6.4% to 4.4 million tons.
Despite the drop in volumes, export revenues from sunflower oil are not expected to decline. On the contrary, they are forecast to increase due to higher global prices for the product, the association notes.
Industry representatives point out that the current season is marked by structural shifts: Ukraine is increasingly expanding rapeseed and soybean processing while reducing raw material exports. This helps partially offset the sunflower seed shortage and maintain utilisation rates at crushing plants.
In particular, in September–February of the 2025/26 marketing year, rapeseed oil exports more than doubled, while soybean oil exports contributed to nearly a 20% increase in export revenues. In some periods, processing volumes of rapeseed and soybeans even exceeded their export volumes.
