TAS Agro nears end of harvest, reports wheat yields of up to 7.5 t/ha

TAS Agro is completing its harvest of early grains and rapeseed, with wheat yields reaching up to 7.5 tons per hectare on some fields, CEO Oleh Zapletniuk said in an interview with Latifundist.com.

As of July 30, the company was in the final stage of the harvest campaign. Rapeseed harvesting remained underway in its Vinnytsia cluster, while the wheat harvest was expected to be completed within several days.

"We are already wrapping up the harvest. We have one or two days left to finish rapeseed in the Vinnytsia cluster and another four to five days for wheat. Overall, we are on the home stretch," Zapletniuk said.

He said average rapeseed yields in southern Ukraine reached 3.2 t/ha this season, which the company considers a strong result. Wheat yields on southern farms exceeded 6 t/ha and reached 7-7.5 t/ha on fields least affected by spring frosts.

"The wheat harvest is less encouraging than last year, although we understand the reasons: complex weather conditions, a cold autumn with frosts, and a cold spring," he said.

Zapletniuk added that the company expects average rapeseed yields of 4.3 t/ha in Vinnytsia cluster, 4 t/ha in Kyiv region, 3.2 t/ha in southern Ukraine, and around 3 t/ha in the north, where crops suffered the most severe frost damage. A significant share of rapeseed acreage in the northern region had to be written off because of spring frosts.
