Ukraine’s wheat harvest nears completion: 23.8 million tons harvested
As of Aug. 17, Ukraine harvested 23.8 million tons of new-crop wheat, according to data from the Agriculture Ministry.
Wheat was harvested from 4.86 million hectares, or 94% of the planned area, with an average yield of 4.91 tons per hectare (2025: 4.32 t/ha).
Growers harvested early grains and pulses from 6.59 million hectares, or 56% of the projected area. This was above the figure recorded on the same date last year, when 6.19 million hectares were harvested. The new-crop grain harvest reached 30.84 million tons, with an average yield of 4.6 tons per hectare.
The largest volumes of wheat were harvested in:
- Odesa region — 3.22 million tons;
- Kirovohrad region — 1.92 million tons;
- Mykolaiv region — 1.63 million tons.
The highest average grain yield so far has been recorded in Khmelnytskyi region at 6.9 tons per hectare. Sumy and Vinnytsia regions also posted high yields of 5.9 tons per hectare each.
Rapeseed harvesting is also nearing completion. Farmers have harvested 1.32 million hectares, or 99% of the planned area, producing 3.76 million tons of seed at an average yield of 2.8 tons per hectare.
The USDA raised its forecast for Ukraine’s wheat crop to 25.4 million tons, up from 24 million tons forecast in July. At the same time, it cut its forecast for Ukrainian wheat exports to 13.5 million tons from 14.5 million tons, while raising its estimate for ending stocks to 4.8 million tons from 2.53 million tons.
