Russian drone attacks rapeseed oil-laden vessel in Black Sea, killing one

A Russian drone attacked a commercial vessel carrying rapeseed oil in the Black Sea, Odesa Region Governor Oleg Kiper reported.

The vessel was sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands. The tanker sustained damage, the attack caused a fire in its superstructure.

According to Kiper, one person was killed, and seven others were injured.

“By deliberately targeting civilian shipping and port infrastructure, Russia is violating international law and posing a threat to global food security,” he said.

On October 3, Russia attacked a civilian Liberia-flagged cargo vessel at one of the ports in Odesa region. One crew member was killed, and three others were injured in the attack.
