Russia attacks cargo vessel at Ukrainian port, killing seafarer
Russia attacked a civilian cargo vessel sailing under the Liberian flag at one of the ports in Ukraine’s Odesa region, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reported.
A crew member serving as a sailor-engineer was killed in the attack, while three other crew members were injured.
At least 17 crew members were on board the vessel. Thirteen seafarers were evacuated to a safe location.
The USPA described the attack as another deliberate Russian strike on civilian shipping.
“Russia continues to terrorize the peaceful merchant fleet and seafarers who risk their lives every day to keep Ukraine’s maritime routes operating,” the authority said.
