Crop progress in Ukraine: new crop 90% harvested, corn campaign 75% done

As of December 22, grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine yielded 46.6 mln t on 10.1 mln ha, which is 90% of the planned area (2021: 98%, 24.48 mln ha), the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reports. The average yield of crops as of the reporting date was 4.64 t/ha (2021: 5.36 t/ha).

Production by crops:

  • wheat: 19.4 mln t on 4.7 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 4.12 t/ha
  • barley: 5.6 mln t on 1.6 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 3.51 t/ha
  • rapeseed: 3.2 mln t on 1.1 mln ha (100%), avg. yield 2.89 t/ha
  • peas: 261 thou. t on 111.5 thou. ha (100%), avg. yield 2.34 t/ha
  • millet: 99.5 thou. t on 43.2 thou. ha (98%), avg. yield 2.3 t/ha
  • buckwheat: 157 thou. t on 115 thou. ha (98%), avg. yield 1.37 t/ha
  • sunflower: 10.1 mln t on 4.6 mln ha (99%), avg. yield 2.18 t/ha
  • corn: 20.2 mln t on 3.1 mln ha (75%), avg. yield 6.42 t/ha
  • soybean: 3.7 mln t on 1.5 mln ha (99%), avg. yield 2.42 t/ha
  • sugar beet: 9 mln t on 179.4 thou. ha (100%), avg. yield 50.1 t/ha

The highest yield of grains and legumes was produced in Khmelnysky region — 7.02 t/ha. Producers in Vinnytsya region harvested 3.9 mln t of new crop.

Farms in Mykolaiv, Odesa and Cherkasy regions have completed the new crop campaign. Volyn, Zakarpattya and Ivano-Frankivsk regions are about to finalize collecting grains and oilseeds.

USDA projects wheat output in Ukraine in 2022/23 at 20.5 mln t, corn at 27 mln t, and sunflower at 10.1 mln t.
