Ukraine's government bans beet sugar export until mid-September

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine banned beet sugar exports at a meeting on May 30, setting a zero quota from June 5 to September 15, 2023.

"Sugar (UKTZED 1701) is included in Annex 1 "Quota volumes of commodities subject to licensing" of Resolution No. 1466 with a zero quota and a licensing period from 5 June to 15 September 2023," Permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Parliament Taras Melnychuk wrote in Telegram.

Beet sugar production in 2022/23 made up 1.33 MMT, 8% down YoY. The annual domestic consumption is estimated at 1 mln t or less.
