Soybean sown areas in Ukraine cut by 20%

In the 2020 season, soybean areas in Ukraine will be reduced by 20% or by 376.7 thou. ha to 1.45 mln ha (2019: 1.82 mln ha).

Under the data of the Sowing Online 2019/20 Project, soybean planting as of May 21 was 87% completed (1.26 mln ha).

Areas under the crop were reduced the most in the following regions:

  • Khmelnytsky: by 61.35 thou. ha to 133 thou. ha
  • Poltava: by 46.38 thou. ha to 140 thou. ha
  • Chernihiv: by 41.71 thou. ha to 74 thou. ha
  • Sumy: by 39.38 thou. ha to 93 thou. ha
  • Cherkasy: by 35.16 thou. ha to 96 thou. ha
  • Kirovohrad: by 34.24 thou. ha to 94 thou. ha
  • Kherson: by 29.76 thou. ha to 76 thou. ha
  • Zhytomyr: by 28.08 thou. ha to 114 thou. ha
  • Rivne: by 24.06 thou. ha to 45 thou. ha
  • Vinnytsya: by 11.74 thou. ha to 124 thou. ha
