In Ukraine 45% of land under early grain crops are threshed — Harvest Online 2017

Harvesting of early grain and legume crops in Ukraine was carried out on an area of 4.3 million hectares or 45%, according to the data of the joint project by Latifundist.com and AGCO Harvest Online 2017.

As of July 21, 2017, the harvest of early grain crops from this area was 14.5 million tons, with an average yield of 3.61 tons/ha.

The harvest campaign (by crops) is as follows:

  • wheat 2.5 million hectares out of 6.4 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 40%, 9.1 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 3.58 tons/ha (in 2016 3.87 tons/ha);
  • barley 1.4 million hectares out of 2.5 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 57%, 4.6 million tons of grain were threshed, with a yield of 3.19 tons/ha (in 2016 3.26 tons/ha);
  • rye 4 thousand hectares out of 169 thousand hectares were harvested, 8.0 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.01 tons/ha (in 2016 2.19 tons/ha);
  • oats 2 thousand million hectares out of 198 thousand hectares were harvested, 6 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.31 tons/ha (in 2016 2.28 tons/ha);
  • peas 306 thousand hectares out of 404 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 76%, 714 thousand tons of pulses were threshed, with an average yield of 2.43 tons/ha (in 2016 3.16 tons/ha);
  • rapeseed 441 thousand hectares out of 784 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 56%, 1.1 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.48 tons/ha (in 2016 2.58 tons/ha).

The highest yields of early grain and legume crops were recorded in Ivano-Frankivsk 5.78 t/ha, Lviv 5.76 t/ha, Khmelnitsky 51.7 t/ha, Volyn 5.02 t/ha and Rivne 4.76 t/ha.
