Sowing Online 2019/20: spring crops 72% planted

As of May 4, early spring grain, leguminous and industrial crops in Ukraine were sown on an area of 11.25 mln ha or 72% of the planned 15.56 mln ha. Provided by the data of the Sowing Online 2019/20 Project, sown areas by spring crops are as follows:

  • wheat: 181.6 thou. ha, 98% of the planned 184.56 thou. ha;
  • barley: 1.48 mln ha, 97% of 1.52 mln ha;
  • oats: 185.09 thou. ha, 99% of 186.36 thou. ha;
  • peas: 279.32 thou. ha, 99% of 282.7 thou. ha;
  • corn: 3.96 mln ha, 73% of 5.39 mln ha;
  • sugar beet: 178.9 thou. ha, 86% of 209 thou. ha;
  • sunflower: 4.44 mln ha, 72% of 6.2 mln ha;
  • soybean: 545.35 thou. ha, 38% of 1.45 mln ha.

Buckwheat sowing campaign has also started. As of May 4, 4% (2.92 thou. ha) of the planned 75 thou. ha was sown. Millet planting is also progressing.
