Ukraine exported 2 million tons of barley in July-August 2017

In two months of 2017/18 MY, Ukraine exported 1.97 million tons of barley, which is 10.5% less than it was delivered to foreign markets in the same period of 2016/17 MY (2.2 million tons).

This is reported by UkrAgroConsult.

The main market for Ukrainian barley is traditionally Saudi Arabia, where more than 680 thousand tons or 35% of all deliveries were shipped during the reporting period. The export of Ukrainian barley to China in the reporting month amounted to 560 thousand tons, which is 87% higher than the delivery of the entire 2016/17 MY (300 thousand tons).

In July-August 2017/18 MY, Ukrainian exporters supplied more than 220 thousand tons of barley to the EU, which is 18% higher than exports of the same period of 2016/17 MY.

Reference: according to the joint project of Latifundist.com and AGCO Harvest Online 2017 as of October 6, 2017, the yield of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine amounted to 42.9 million tons, harvested area — 11.1 million hectares, and the average productivity is 3.86 t/ha (2016 — 4.06 t/ha). The highest yields of grain and leguminous crops were recorded in the following regions: Khmelnitsky — 5.60 t/ha, Ternopil — 5.25 t/ha, Chernivtsi — 5.14 t/ha, Vinnytsia — 5.02 t/ha, Ivano-Frankivsk — 4.87 t/ha and Lviv — 4.80 t/ha.
