Ukraine in July-October exported 2 MT of oilseeds

Ukrainian exporters in the period of July-October MY 2017/18 exported 2 million tons of oilseeds, which is 0.9 million tons more than the same indicator of MY 2016/17.

This is reported by Stanislava Yarosh, the analyst of the agricultural market at ProAgro.

It is noted that the export of rape seeds during July-October MY 2017/18 amounted to 1.68 million tons (MY 2106/17 — 0.7 million tons), soybean — 0.3 million tons (0.4 million tons).

Exports of grain from the beginning of MY 2017/18 amounted to 13.5 million tons, in particular, more than 8 million tons of wheat, including 4.5 million tons of food and 3.5 million tons of coarse grain. Barley exports amounted to 3.5 million tons, corn — 1.6 million tons.

"In general, since the beginning of MY 2017/18 the geography of exports of agro-industrial products has not undergone significant changes. Asian countries remain the key direction of supplies. The total value of exports, according to the results of the reporting period, is estimated at US$ 5.53 billion, according to the latest information from the relevant ministry. The second most important area of Ukrainian agro-industrial exports is the EU countries, which brought revenue in the amount of US$ 4.2 billion. Exports to Africa in the reporting period amounted to almost US$ 2 billion," the analyst says.

Stanislava Yarosch noted that during the last 5 years the key component of the export of agro-industrial products from Ukraine is crop production, as well as vegetable oils. At the same time, the depreciation of the national currency over the past few years reflected in the relative decline in exports in monetary terms, despite their significant increase in absolute values.
