Grain production in 2017 is expected at 62.3 million tons

In 2017, according to preliminary calculations, the production of grain and leguminous crops is expected to be within 62.3 million tons, with a yield of 4.28 tons/ha.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informs that the projected crop yield amounts to:

  • wheat — 26.1 million tons, with a yield of 4.1 tons/ha;
  • corn — 25.2 million tons, with a yield of 5.6 tons/ha;
  • barley — 8.3 million tons, with a yield of 3.31 tons/ha;
  • rye — 0.49 million tons, with a yield of 2.91 tons/ha;
  • oat — 0.48 million tons, with a yield of 2.43 tons/ha;
  • buckwheat — 0.18 million tons, with a yield of 1 ton/ha;
  • millet — 0.08 million tons, with a yield of 1.5 tons/ha;
  • rice — 0.07 million tons, with a yield of 5.53 tons/ha.

The yield of sugar beet will make up 13.8 million tons (yield — 43.33 tons/ha), sunflower — 11.6 million tons (yield — 1.96 tons/ha), soybean — 3.8 million tons (yield — 1,93 t/ha), rapeseed — 2.2 million tons (yield — 2.75 t/ha).

Reference: the gross output of crop production in 2017 is projected at UAH 178.7 billion, which is 3.4% less than last year.
