Government approved the export strategy of Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on December 27, 2017 approved the Export Strategy — the Road Map of Strategic Development of Trade for the period 2017-2021, which was developed by the Ministry of Economic Development with the participation of business and experts.
"This is a clear plan of action as to how Ukraine moves from predominantly exporting raw materials to exporting science-intensive innovative products. The document determines the geographical priorities for exports until 2021, where there are more opportunities for the Ukrainian producer," said Stepan Kubiv, First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
He added that the adoption of this document is an extremely important signal to exporters that the Government is aware of and understands their needs and will continue working to develop the Ukrainian export potential.
It is noted that the Road Map defines the strategic objectives of the development of trade for the next 4 years. Among them are:
- creating conditions for the development of trade and innovation to diversify export of Ukrainian goods and services;
- state export support;
- increase the level of knowledge and skills necessary for enterprises to carry out international trade.
Besides, new promising markets were approved within the export strategy that can substitute the traditional ones, access to which is difficult due to the political situation.
In particular, the TOP-20 markets were defined, which, provided that the correct forms and tools for working with them are selected, are able to show fairly fast results. Among them, besides the EU countries are Egypt, India, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, USA, Canada, Switzerland and Bangladesh.
