Sugar production in Ukraine exceeded 2 MT

In Ukraine, since the beginning of MY 2017/18, as of January 9, sugar production exceeded 2 million tons, and sugar beet processing amounted to more than 14 million tons.

The National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (Ukrsugar) informs that this season 46 sugar plants were operating.

"The production of sugar reached 2.018 million tons and exceeded last year's volume. However, this figure is not yet final, since four more sugar plants continue the production season: Zhdanov, Radekhiv, Narkevichsky and Gorokhovsky," comments Ruslana Butylo, head of the analytical department at NASU Ukrsugar.

Reference: in MY 2016/17, sugar production totalled 2.008 million tons. Sugar beet processing reached 13.66 million tons. 42 sugar plants completed the production season.

Note: Ukrainian sugar market in 2017 was dominated by 10 companies.
