АЕСОМ developed a processing and transshipment project in Yuzhny Sea Port

The American multinational engineering company AECOM developed an investment project for implementation in Yuzhny Sea Port. The complex will specialize in processing and transshipment of agricultural products — vegetable oil and grains, CTS reports.

It is noted that among the planned projects are:

  • grain terminal;
  • a terminal for the transshipment of vegetable oil;
  • an oil extraction plant.

Silo grain storage capacities will reach 440 thou. tons. Also, four floor storages for meal and legumes with a capacity of 80 thou. tons will be constructed.

The project is aimed at transporting up to 85% of cargo by rail. The terminal will accept up to 520 cars per day. In addition, two stations for unloading cargo motor transport will be built.

It is planned that there will be three more berths in addition to existing ones in the port. This will allow for simultaneous loading of the vessel with vegetable oil and two vessels with grain (125 thou. tons DWT), and provide loading speed of 3 thou. tons per hour for each vessel.

Once fully developed, the annual transshipment capacity of the terminal will be 9 million tons of grain.

"Investments in the grain terminal's first phase construction total USD 147.5 million. In this regard, I think that it is necessary to involve such a powerful partner as Portinvest," Martin Mannion, Europe, Middle East, Indian and Africa director of AECOM, noted.

Note: AECOM’s employees now serve clients in more than 150 countries around the world.
