Soybean shipments in May dropped 32%

In May 2018, Ukraine exported 145.9 thou. tons of soybeans which is 32% less than the previous month (214.6 thou. tons), and 5.6% more than in May 2017 (138.2 thou. tons), UkrAgroConsult informs.

In the period from September to May of MY2017/18, Ukraine exported 2.62 million tons of soybeans, which is 3.3% less than over the corresponding period last season (2.71 million tons), while exports are close to a record level.

The key importers are as follows:

  • the EU — 31%;
  • Turkey — 27%;
  • Belarus — 9%.

Iran (14%) and Egypt (11%), despite the decline in commodity flow towards these countries, remain the major importers of Ukrainian soybeans.

Previously it was reported that rapeseed prices in Ukraine recovered to USD 390-393 per ton (or UAH 12.2-12.225 thou./ton) for shipments to the port, after the preceding decline to USD 383-385 per ton.
