Extreme weather conditions in Ternopil region delay harvesting

Agrarians of Ternopil region note that extreme weather conditions presented by heavy rains complicate the process of winter wheat harvesting, APK-Inform writes.

"The majority of agrarians report that 15-20% of winter wheat is harvested. Deterioration of weather conditions during the harvesting campaign can lead to a decline in the quality indicators of winter wheat, in particular, the appearance of sprouted and fusarious contaminated grain," experts note.

The average grain yield at this stage is mainly recorded within the range of 6.0-6.5 t/ha, which is 10% higher than last year, agrarians say.

Reference: as of July 26, wheat in Ternopil region is threshed on 35.1 thou. hectares (19% of the forecast), 198.4 thou. tons of grain are harvested with an average productivity of 5.45 t/ha.
