Ukrainian sunflower oil exports should increase 11% in 2018/19

The export potential of sunflower oil from Ukraine in MY2018/19 is revised upwards to 5.9 million tons, which is 11% higher than the previous season. In addition, exports can reach an absolute maximum exceeding the record of MY2016/17 (5.85 million tons), APK-Inform reports.

"The start of sunflower harvesting campaign in the country was marked by an encouraging yield, in this connection, the balance indicators were raised. In particular, oilseeds bulk yield and processing forecasts in MY2018/19 were adjusted up 2% to 14.8 and 14.6 million tons, respectively, which is 10% more than the previous season," states Julia Ivanitskaya, oil markets analyst.

She adds that due to increased yield and higher oil content, the future production of sunflower oil is estimated at a record 6.4 million tons (+12% as compared to the previous season).

Reference: in MY2017/18 (September-August), Ukraine exported more than 260 thou. tons of sunflower oil to Iraq, which is a 3.2 times higher volume than the previous season.
