Ukrainian seaports resumed barley shipments

In the period of March 16-22, corn shipments from the Ukrainian seaports reduced 31 pct wk/wk to 856 thou.tons, the APK-Inform consultancy reports. The previous week's indicator stands at 1 240 thou. tons.

Shipments of wheat and corn reduced to 117 thou. tons (19 pct) and 722 thou. tons (34 pct), respectively. In the reporting week, barley shipments were resumed and amounted to 18 thou. tons.

The top-3 importers of grain are China (278 thou. tons), Egypt (86 thou. tons) and Spain (80 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops in the current marketing year is held by the port of Mykolaiv (8.7 million tons). The ports of Chernomorsk and Yuzhny provided for the transshipment of 7.8 million tons and 6.5 million tons, respectively.

As previously reported, as at March 21, 2019, Ukrainian agrarians sowed early spring barley on an area of 517 thou. hectares (or 33 pct of the projected areas).
