Sowing Online 2018/19: less than 10 pct of early spring crops left to be sown

As of April 15th, early spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine are sown on an area of 2 million hectares, or 90 pct of the projected areas.

By the data of the Sowing Online 2018/19 Projectthe sown areas by the spring crops are as follows:

  • spring barley — 1.4 million hectares (93 pct);
  • wheat — 148 thou. hectares (89 pct);
  • oats — 159 thou. hectares (81 pct);
  • peas — 277 thou. hectares (82 pct);
  • corn — 187 thou. hectares (4 pct).

Sugar beet is sown on the area of 189 thou. hectares, 77 pct of the forecast areas. Sunflower sowing is carried out on 893 thou. hectares, making up 16 pct of the planned areas.

Fertilization of winter grain crops was carried out on 7.5 million hectares or 99 pct of the forecast.
