ViOil sunflower oil production up 2.5x
In the 2018/19 season, ViOil's oil extraction plants increased the production of high-oleic sunflower oil by 2.5x.
The company notes that ViOil crushing plants processed more than 100 thousand tons of high-oleic sunflower seeds and produced about 41 thousand tons of high-oleic sunflower oil during the season.
"The world is now witnessing an active trend of healthy food consumption. Therefore, the demand for high-oleic sunflower oil increases 10 percent annually. In order to meet the needs of the market, our company is increasing production volumes of this product. Thanks to a special technology for processing high-oleic sunflower oil, the phosphorus content of such oil is at least 130 ppm. It also contains high levels of omega-9 oleic acid and vitamin E. We check the oleic acid level of our unrefined oil three times per shift," states Igor Gadomsky, Commercial Director of the industrial group ViOil.
According to the report, the EU and South-East Asia countries are the traditional markets for high-oleic sunflower oil. Last year ViOil started exporting this product to Japan, South Korea and Australia.
In the past season, the ViOil Group facilities processed about 800 thousand tons of sunflower.
Previously reported that ViOil ranked third in Ukraine in terms of soybean processing volumes in September-February 2018/19.
