Sunflower seeds shipment to Turkey intensified by 2.7x

In the period of January-May 2020, sunflower export from Ukraine totalled 31.8 thou. t, the State Customs Service data show.

The value of exported commodities is estimated at USD 12.3 mln.

Key importing countries in the period are as followed:

• Turkey: 7.88 thou. t, USD 3.12 mln, 25.36% of the total supply
• Georgia: 2.45 thou. t. USD 969 thou., 7.88%
• Germany: 2.22 thou. t, USD 878 thou., 7.14%
• others: 18.53 thou. t, USD 7.33 mln, 59.62%

In May, Turkey imported 5 thou. t of sunflower seeds, 2.7x more from Jan-Apr of the current year; Georgia 0.478 thou. t (+24%), Germany 0.398 thou. t (+22%).

In the current season, exports of high-oleic vegetable oil (in Sep-May) reached a record level: +55% on the corresponding period of 2018/19.
