Ukraine's high-oleic sunflower export potential set to rise — forecast

Stable demand from high-oleic vegetable oil importers, as well as the prospects for entering new markets position high-oleic sunflower among the attractive crops, UkrAgroConsult writes.

"High-oleic sunflower sown area will be expanded in 2020/21," UkrAgroConsult oilseeds market analyst Svetlana Kupreeva comments.

Meanwhile, she notes, the reduction of the price spread of high-oleic raw materials compared to the price of sunflower in 2019/20 will work as a deterrent.

As reported, higher yields will lead to increased production of high-oleic sunflower oil, thus the export potential of the high-oleic sunflower oil market will also grow.

"In the current season(Sep-Aug), exports of high-oleic vegetable oil (in Sep-May) reached a record level: +55% on the corresponding period of 2018/19," says the expert.

Ukraine dominated sunflower production in 2019 having produced 16.5 mln t of the oilseed crop.
