US market to open for Ukraine corn and wheat, bilateral agreements underway

The competent authorities of Ukraine and the U.S.A. are elaborating the procedure for the admittance of Ukrainian wheat and corn, including organic, to the U.S. market.

As reported by the State Consumer Protection Service of Ukraine (SSUFSCP), the approval procedures are in their final stages. The Head of the SSUFSCP Vladyslava Magaletska had a meeting with the representatives of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC).

"We are anticipating the opening of the U.S. market for Ukrainian corn and wheat, for it will open up new prospects for business development and economic growth in Ukraine," notes Vladyslava Magaletska.

Elizabeth Hafner, Deputy Assistant USTR for Russia and Eurasia at Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, marked the efficient communication between the two countries and stressed the importance of further dialogue between business and authorities.

Grain export shipment from Ukraine as of Sept. 22 totalled 12.1 mln t, 12% up YoY.

In the 2020/21 season, staples supply from Ukraine made up 48.8 mln t.
