Spring crops planting in Odesa progresses ahead of schedule

The projected area of main spring crops planted for the 2023 harvest in the territory controlled by Ukraine is 5,700.1 thou. ha as of 9 March 2023, which is 206.5 thou. ha (3.4%) less than the previous season, the Agrarian Ministry reports.

One region, Odesa, has started sowing spring crops so far, whereas as of the corresponding date last year, planting had not yet begun in Ukraine.

Planting progress in the region:

  • 6.7 thou. ha of wheat
  • 5.9 thou. ha of barley
  • 3.5 thou. ha of peas
