Share of seaborne exports of vegetable oil from Ukraine grows to 75-80%: Ukroilprom
Exports of oilseed products from Odesa ports account for about 75-80% of total exports, down from nearly 90% before the full-scale invasion, said CEO of the Ukroilprom Association Stepan Kapshuk at a press event held by Ukrinform.
‘’Once the ports of Odesa resumed operations, this share reached 75-80%, while before the war it was close to 90%,‘’ Kapshuk noted.
He noted that during russia's blockade of deep-water ports, the state-owned railway company Ukrzaliznytsia covered about 35% of vegetable oil export shipments, while road transport accounted for about 20%. At the same time, logistics costs increased by about three to four times, as the cost of delivering 1 ton of vegoil to Europe was €353.
The USDA forecasts sunflower oil production in Ukraine in 2024/25 at 6.1 million tonnes, down 170 thousand tons YoY.
In MY 2023/24, Ukraine exported 4.4 million tons of sunflower oil, up 17.9% from last season.
