russia hits merchant vessel loaded with Ukrainian wheat for Egypt
russia attacked a merchant vessel AYA (IMO: 9117868) sailing under the flag of St Kitts Nevis on September 11.
The vessel was loaded with Ukrainian wheat bound for Egypt, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement.
"russia launched a strike on an ordinary civilian vessel in the Black Sea right after it left Ukrainian territorial waters. Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to preliminary reports," the President wrote on X (Twitter).
"We are waiting for the world to react. Wheat and food security should never be targets for missiles."
On November 8, 2023, russia attacked a Liberia-flagged vessel in the port of Pivdenny with an X-31P antiradar missile. Three crew members and the port worker were injured, the pilot was killed. The vessel was to be loaded with ore.
