Chornotysiv Terminal expands grain transshipment operations
The Chornotysiv Terminal in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region is gradually expanding its services and increasing cargo turnover. According to the terminal’s director, Hordiy Mishchenko, in a comment to Elevatorist.com, the facility is now not only loading grain hopper railcars but also handling transshipment of agricultural products into 20-foot containers.
He noted that the terminal has already shipped soybeans in containers to Pakistan under a contract with a consignor. Recently, the terminal also began handling 40-foot containers.
"Handling 40-foot containers will allow us to work with soybean meal as well, since it’s typically shipped in this format," Mishchenko said.
In addition to logistics expansion, the terminal is preparing for ISCC certification, which will allow it to operate on the European biofuel market.
"We are undergoing certification for rapeseed and other oilseeds for trade with Europe. ISCC certification covers both GMO and non-GMO rapeseed for biofuel use. Buyers require certification across the supply chain — including the elevator, terminal, and the farm. We are preparing for the 2025/26 season, starting with rapeseed and planning to expand to other crops," the director added.
