Nestlé opens new noodle factory in western Ukraine to supply EU and domestic markets

Nestlé has launched the first production line at its new vermicelli factory in the Volyn region, according to Interfax-Ukraine.

“The production capacity of the first line will allow the company to produce 5,000 tons of noodles by the end of 2025, with plans to increase volumes by launching additional lines over the next two years,” the company stated.

Nestlé noted that the Smolyhiv facility is the fourth factory it has opened in Ukraine during its 30 years of operations in the country.

“With the launch of the new plant, the company has established a European food production hub in Volyn by combining the new Smolyhiv site with the existing factory in nearby Torchyn,” the company said.

Nestlé is expanding noodle production to meet growing demand in both Europe and Ukraine under the Maggi and Mivina brands. The new plant is export-oriented: 75% of its products will be supplied to EU markets under the Maggi label, contributing to Ukraine’s foreign exchange earnings.

At the same time, 75% of the raw materials used in production come from Ukrainian suppliers, with wheat and sunflower oil as key ingredients.

“The factory’s advantageous location in western Ukraine offers ideal conditions for serving both local and export markets,” said Alessandro Zanelli, CEO of Nestlé in Ukraine and Southeast Europe.
