Rapeseed processing in Ukraine may start later this season due to raw material shortage — analysts

Last week, the main demand in Ukraine’s rapeseed export market was focused on foreign currency contracts priced at $535–545/t CPT-port, according to APK-Inform.

At the same time, hryvnia-denominated prices dropped to 23,000–24,200 UAH/t CPT-port due to expectations of an export duty being introduced. Most trading was indicative in nature, as farmers were reluctant to sell rapeseed at current FX prices.

On the domestic market, rapeseed prices fell by an average of 200–500 UAH/t. However, closer to the end of the week, some companies began to raise their purchase prices amid limited supply. Processors were offering prices in the range of 23,500–24,500 UAH/t CPT. Due to the raw material shortage, rapeseed processing may be delayed this season, according to market participants.
