Zelenskyy outlines 20 points of draft peace framework, including provision on free navigation for Ukraine in Black Sea and Dnieper
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has presented 20 points of a draft framework document between Ukraine, the United States, Russia and Europe on ending the war. Among them is a provision stating that Russia would not obstruct Ukraine’s commercial activities in the Black Sea, Zelensky told journalists, according to Ukrinform.
“I am now ready to discuss the draft 20-point document — this is a framework, a basic political document between us, America, Europe and the Russians,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the draft largely reflects a joint Ukrainian-US position, partly the US position, while some issues still remain to be resolved.
Among the 20 points are provisions that may directly affect the agricultural sector:
Point 7. Ukraine will become a member of the European Union at a specifically defined time and will receive short-term preferential access to the European market.
Point 16. Russia will not hinder Ukraine’s use of the Dnipro River and the Black Sea for commercial purposes. A separate maritime and access agreement will be concluded to ensure freedom of navigation and transportation. Under this agreement, the Kinburn Spit will be demilitarized.
Zelensky added that Russia’s reaction to the draft document is expected to be known on December 24 after talks with the US side.
