Ukraine’s sugar production season 2025/26 ends nearly in line with last year thanks to record beet yields
Ukraine’s beet sugar production season ended on February 1, 2026. A total of 26 sugar plants belonging to the Ukrsugar association produced 1.64 mln tons of sugar.
Including one additional plant that is not a member of the association, total sugar output in the country reached 1.72 mln tons.
Despite a reduction in sugar beet planting areas by 50,000 ha (–23% year-on-year), sugar production declined by only 4%, or 80,000 tons.
“This is primarily due to an increase in sugar beet yields to a historic record for the industry of 58 t/ha, improvements in technological characteristics—particularly sugar content, which reached 17.6% this year—as well as operational improvements at sugar plants. All these factors offset the impact of reduced planted areas,” said Yana Kavushevska, Head of the Ukrsugar association.
According to her, the industry’s sugar recovery rate this season amounted to 15.17%, nearly 1 percentage point higher than in 2024.
The leaders in sugar production in the 2025 season remained unchanged:
- Radekhiv Sugar (Diamant) — 32%
- Astarta-Kyiv — 21%
- Ukrprominvest-Agro — 15%
- Teofipol Sugar Plant — 6%
- A’SPIK — 5%
Ukrprominvest-Agro’s sugar plants have completed sugar beet processing for the 2025/26 season. The company processed 1.6 mln tons of sugar beets at its plants, producing 226,000 tons of sugar.
