Ukraine again asks Israel to detain Russian vessel carrying stolen grain; SeaKrime says it left port without unloading

Ukraine has appealed to Israel to detain the Russian vessel PANORMITIS, which may be transporting stolen Ukrainian grain, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko said.

According to him, the Office of the Prosecutor General has already sent a package of documents to the Israeli side as part of international legal assistance. Ukraine is requesting the arrest of the vessel and its cargo, as well as permission to conduct a search, seize documentation, collect grain samples, and question the crew.

According to the prosecution, PANORMITIS is carrying grain partially taken from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The cargo was loaded after transshipment from another vessel.

Investigators have also documented the ship’s illegal calls at closed Ukrainian ports, which violates Ukrainian legislation and international maritime law.

At the same time, journalist Kateryna Yaresko from the SeaKrime investigative project of the Myrotvorets Center reported that the vessel had departed from the port of Haifa.

“PANORMITIS (IMO: 9445021), which arrived in Haifa carrying grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine, has weighed anchor. It appears that this time the stolen grain will not be delivered to Israel,” she said.

According to Israeli outlet N12, importing company Zenziper announced a postponement of the unloading of the wheat shipment on PANORMITIS and said the supplier would have to find another destination for the cargo. Following the importer’s statement, the vessel left the Israeli coast.
