Ukraine’s grain sowing campaign nearly complete, with 97% of planned area planted

As of June 2, growers in Ukraine planted 5.84 million hectares of grain and pulse crops, accounting for 97% of the projected area, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.
Corn traditionally occupies the largest area, with 4.34 million hectares planted, or 98% of the forecast.
Other spring crops planted areas:
- Spring barley — 713,400 ha (95%);
- Peas — 259,500 ha (95%);
- Spring wheat — 186,200 ha (100%);
- Oats — 137,500 ha (100%);
- Buckwheat — 51,100 ha (90%);
- Millet — 37,600 ha (94%).
Farmers are finalising the sowing of industrial crops. So far, these crops have been planted on 6.9 million hectares, representing 95% of the projected area.
In particular, sunflowers have been planted on 4.73 million hectares (95%), soybeans on nearly 2 million hectares (96%), and sugar beets on 190,000 hectares, or 96% of the planned area.
