Ukraine harvests 5.9 million tons of early crops as 2026 campaign gathers pace

Growers in Ukraine harvested 5.47 million metric tons of early grains from 1.34 million hectares, or 11% of the projected area, as of July 21, the Agriculture Ministry said.

The harvest included:

  • 2.6 million tons of wheat from 633,200 hectares, with an average yield of 4.11 t/ha;
  • 2.56 million tons of barley from 580,500 hectares, with a yield of 4.41 t/ha;
  • 301,400 tons of peas from 121,600 hectares, with a yield of 2.48 t/ha.

Odesa region harvested 1.597 million tons from 385,000 hectares, including 616,500 tons of wheat, 858,200 tons of barley and 133,000 tons of peas.

Mykolaiv region collected 1.303 million tons from 365,500 hectares, including 694,000 tons of wheat, 521,700 tons of barley and 83,100 tons of peas.

Dnipropetrovsk region harvested 1.005 million tons from 256,500 hectares, including 712,200 tons of wheat, 273,500 tons of barley and 18,300 tons of peas.

Farmers are also continuing the rapeseed harvest. Winter and spring rapeseed has been harvested from 216,200 hectares, producing 429,600 tons at an average yield of 1.99 t/ha.

The highest average yields were recorded in:

  • wheat: 7.14 t/ha in Ternopil region;
  • barley: 7.03 t/ha in Ternopil region;
  • peas: 3.29 t/ha in Volyn region;
  • rapeseed: 3.60 t/ha in Lviv region.
