Levada Cargo acquires stake in key intermodal terminal on EU border
Levada Cargo, part of the Lemtrans Group, on July 29 completed the acquisition of a minority stake in Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal, an intermodal logistics hub located in Batovo, Zakarpattia region, near Ukraine's border with the European Union.
The value of the investment and other financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by agreement between the parties.
German logistics company HHLA International remains the terminal's majority shareholder and will retain its controlling stake and operational management.
"Together with our partners, we are developing logistics infrastructure that strengthens international supply chains, supports Ukrainian businesses and promotes Ukraine's integration into the European transport system. This investment will provide customers with maximum flexibility, efficiency and reliability for both domestic and international freight transportation," Levada Cargo quoted its CEO Volodymyr Demenko as saying.
Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal is located near the Chop and Solovka border crossings, linking Ukraine with Hungary, Slovakia and Romania. The facility is equipped with both European standard-gauge and Ukrainian broad-gauge rail tracks and handles containerised as well as bulk cargo.
"We are pleased to welcome Levada Cargo as an additional partner in Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal. This partnership further strengthens the regional logistics hub and supports the development of secure, reliable and efficient transport connections between Ukraine and European markets," the company quoted Philip Sweens, Managing Director of HHLA International GmbH, as saying.
Levada Cargo currently operates the Vinnytsia Container Terminal and is also involved in partnership projects at the Fastiv Container Terminal and the Mostyska Container Terminal.
