Growers prioritize soybean harvesting amid more stable prices
Growers in Ukraine are currently prioritising soybean harvesting amid expectations of a lower crop and more stable prices compared with other late-season crops, ASAP Agri reports.
As of September 21, soybeans were harvested from 21% of the planted area in Ukraine. By comparison, sunflower was harvested from 14% of the area, while corn harvesting has reached just 1%.
Meanwhile, rainfall continues to slow fieldwork. According to ASAP Agri, harvesting rates for all three major late-season crops — soybeans, sunflower and corn — are currently lagging behind last year’s pace.
Analysts note that this year’s soybean crop is expected to be smaller than last year’s, while soybean prices have remained more stable compared with those of other late-season crops.
