Increased yield will result in transshipment facilities shortage

There is a sufficient amount of transshipment facilities built in the Ukrainian ports, but the increase in yields might lead to a deficit. According to AgroPolit.com, this information was announced by Elena Voloshina, the head of IFC in Ukraine.

"In case the production volumes remain at the same level, the transshipment capacity is sufficient to meet the needs. But since we hope that the yield will increase and will reach 70-80 million tons, and then the question of the terminals’ capacity will be rather topical. I predict that it will be a problem," believes Elena Voloshina.

According to Elena Voloshina, the main problem is not about the ports, but the wagons.

"There is also a pressing problem concerning the overloaded vehicles that destroy the roads," said Elena Voloshina.

Let us remind that according to USPA, there are 12 ports in Ukraine which have the capacity to store and transship grain. In total, over the year, Ukrainian terminals can transship 51.9 million tons, and simultaneously store 2.5 million tons of goods.
