Ukrainian agrarians threshed 85% of the land under the early grain crops — Harvest Online 2017
The harvesting campaign of the early grain crops in Ukraine is at the final stage. As of August 4, 2017, the area of 8.2 million hectares or 85% of the total area is harvested. This data was announced in the framework of the joint project by Latifundist.com and AGCO Harvest Online 2017.
According to the data, the harvest of early grain and legume crops amounted to 30.9 million tons, with the average yield of 3.74 tons/ha (in 2016 the average yield amounted to 3.87 tons/ha).
More detailed information on the harvest campaign (by crops) is as follows:
- wheat — 5.5 million hectares out of 6.4 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 86%, 22 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 4.01 tons/ha (in 2016 — 4.11 tons/ha);
- barley — 2.2 million hectares out of 2.5 million hectares were harvested, which constitutes 89%, 7.4 million tons of grain were threshed, with a yield of 3.32 tons/ha (in 2016 — 3.30 tons/ha);
- rye — 79 thousand hectares out of 169 thousand hectares were harvested, which
constitutes 47%, 228 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average
yield of 2.88 tons/ha (in 2016 — 2.33 tons/ha); - oats — 42 thousand hectares out of 198 thousand hectares were harvested, 112
thousand tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.65 tons/ha (in
2016 — 2.33 tons/ha); - peas — 399 thousand hectares out of 410 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes
97%, 1.1 million tons of pulses were threshed, with an average yield of 2.64 tons/ha
(in 2016 — 3.15 tons/ha); - rapeseed — 736 thousand hectares out of 786 thousand hectares were harvested, which constitutes 94%, 2.0 million tons of grain were threshed, with an average yield of 2.74 tons/ha (in 2016 — 2.61 tons/ha).
The highest yields of early grain and legume crops were recorded in Khmelnitsky — 5.58 tons/ha, Ivano-Frankovsk — 5.29 tons/ha, Lvov — 4.96 tons/ha, Chernovtsy — 4.86 tons/ha, Vinnitsia and Ternopol — 4.84 tons/ha regions.
