Agrarians in 5 regions completed harvesting of early grain crops

As of August 8, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Nikolayev, and Kherson regions have completed harvesting of early grain and legume crops.

This information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In general, 33.4 million tons of early grain were harvested from 8.8 million hectares (91% of the forecasted 9.7 million hectares) of land with an average yield of 3.8 tons/ha.

It was noted that the following crops are already collected:

  • wheat — 24 million tons of grain were threshed from 6 million hectares, with an average yield of 4.1 tons per hectare;
  • barley — 8 million tons of grain were threshed from 2.4 million hectares, with an average yield of 3.34 tons/ha;
  • rye — 313 thousand tons of grain were threshed from 107 thousand hectares, with a yield of 3 tons/ha;
  • oats — 183 thousand tons of grain were threshed from 69 thousand hectares, with a yield of 2.7 tons/ha;
  • peas — 1.1 million tons of pulses were threshed from 404 thousand hectares, with an average yield of 2.7 tons/ha;
  • rapeseed — 2.1 million tons of grain were threshed from 745 thousand hectares, with a yield of 2.8 tons/ha.

The highest yields of early grain and legume crops were recorded on the farms in Khmelnitsky (5.61 t/ha), Ivano-Frankovsk (5.29 t/ha), Lvov (4.92 t/ha), Ternopol (4.9 t/ha), Chernovtsy (4.89 t/ha), and Vinnitsia (4.89 t/ha) regions.

Earlier it was reported that the gross harvest of grains in 2017/2018 MY is estimated at 63 million tons.
