Ukrainian agrarians threshed 36 million tons of grain

As of August 15, the Ukrainian agrarians threshed 36.4 million tons of early grain and legume crops on the area of 9.5 million hectares of land with the average yield of 3.56 tons/ha.

This information was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The amount of early grain reached 36.4 million tons of grain, harvested on the area of 9.4 million hectares of land and with the average yield of 3.85 tons/ha.

In total, the agrarians harvested (by crops):

  • wheat — 26 million tons of grain were threshed on the area of 6.3 million hectares with an average yield of 4.16 tons/ha;
  • barley — 8.5 million tons of grain were threshed on the area of 2.49 million hectares with an average yield of 3.4 tons/ha;
  • rye — 435 thousand tons of grain were threshed on the area of 154 thousand hectares with an average yield of 2.83 tons/ha;
  • oats — 366 thousand tons of grain were threshed on the area of 144 thousand hectares with an average yield of 2.53 tons/ha;
  • peas — 1.1 million tons of pulses were threshed on the area of 410 thousand hectares with an average yield of 2.67 tons/ha;
  • rapeseed — 2.1 million tons of grain were threshed on the area of 761 thousand hectares with an average yield of 2.77 tons/ha.

It was noted that the agrarians started harvesting buckwheat and millet. 6 thousand tons of buckwheat were threshed on the area of 6 thousand hectares with an average yield of 1.01 tons/ha, and 6 thousand tons of millet were threshed on the area of 5 thousand hectares with an average yield of 1.26 tons/ha

The highest yields of early grain and legume crops were recorded on the enterprises in Khmelnitsky (5.66 tons/ha), Ivano-Frankovsk (5.27 tons/ha), Ternopol (4.94 tons/ha), Vinnitsa (4.93 tons/ha), Lvov (4.89 tons/ha), and Chernovtsy (4.87 tons/ha) regions.

Let us remind that the production of grain and legume crops in 2017 will decrease by 10.7% compared to 59.04 million tons of grain harvested last year.
