In 2017/18 MY Egypt remains the main market for Ukrainian wheat

Egypt in 2017/18 MY, despite increasing requirements for the content of protein in imported wheat, will remain for Ukraine the top market for wheat.

This is reported by the grain market analyst Marina Sych, writes UkrAgroConsult.

It is noted that the norm was changed at the end of 2016/17 MY, when Ukraine has almost fully realized its export potential, but the volumes of the previous season were not affected by the tightening of measures.

"This will not have a significant negative effect for Ukraine and this season. We expect that due to supplies by private importers, as well as by increasing the import demand for wheat from Egypt, Ukrainian wheat will be able to maintain its position in this market in 2017/18 MY," the message says.

Let us remind, that Ukraine may lose the second largest wheat export market — Egypt due to new import requirements, which are favorable for its rival — Russia.
