3.5 million tons of sugar beet harvested in Ukraine

In Ukraine, as of October 3, 3.5 million tons of sugar beet are harvested, 3.25 million tons of which have already been supplied to sugar refineries for processing.

This is reported by Ukrsugar.

It is noted that sugar beet was harvested on the area of 75k hectares.

The report says that due to unfavorable weather conditions that have affected the vegetation of sugar beet, the harvesting campaign is slower than in the past season — 30% of the area (90 thousand hectares) was harvested during the same period last year.

"The leaders in harvest volumes are Khmelnitsky and Vinnitsa regions, where 40% of the total volume in the country is harvested. Nikolaev region is at the start of sugar beet harvesting. The South of Ukraine expects the roots to gain weight, to become the leader in productivity again," says Vasiliy Dolinsky, the analyst of commodity markets and agriculture of the NASPU Uksugar.

Reference: in Ukraine as of October 3, 329k tons of sugar are produced and 2.5 million tons of sugar beet are processed.
