Transshipment of vegetable oils from sea ports in January-September increased by 32%

In January-September 2017, the seaports of Ukraine provided transshipment of 4.24 million tons of vegetable oils, which is 31.96% more than in the same period last year.

This is reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).

Top 5 seaports in terms of vegetable oils transshipment volumes are:

  • Nikolaev — 1 765,48 thousand tons (+31,73% compared to the same period last year);
  • Chernomorsk — 1 231,9 thousand tons (+38,33%);
  • Yuzhnyi — 977,2 thousand tons (+32,17%);
  • Odessa — 81,23 thousand tons (-24,2%);
  • Mariupol — 73,6 thousand tons (+84%).

The global production of sunflower oil in 2017/18 MY, among 10 oilseeds, accounts for 9% of the total volume (against 8% in 1997/98 MY) and comes third in the world after soy (62% vs. 55%), and rapeseed (11% vs. 12%).
