Ukrainian wheat exports volume in 2017/18 MY is set

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the grain market participants determined the volumes of export wheat in 2017/18 MY.

This is reported by the press service of the Ministry.

The result of this was the signing of the relevant annex to the Memorandum of Understanding between business entities and grain exporters.

Representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumers Protection (SSUFSCP), the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ukrzaliznytsia, economic entities — grain exporters and profile associations, took part in the meeting.

"The forecast volumes of export are coordinated, the annex to the Memorandum is signed. This year we made several innovations in the Memorandum. In particular, such positions as corn, rye and barley were excluded, since there is no threat of food security for these crops. The application, if necessary, will be reviewed by us in January 2018," said Elena Kovaleva, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

According to the appendix, wheat, wheat and rye mixes (meslin) volumes, which can be exported in 2017/18 MY, are determined at the level of 16.5 million tons, including:

  • A and B wheat groups (I-V classes) — 10.7 million tons;
  • non-food wheat (VI class and non-class) — 5.8 million tons.

For the first time at the grain market meeting, the export potential of the Ukrainian oilseed market was discussed, specifically an increase in the production and export of fat and oil products with high added value.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine in January-September 2017 exported 11.96 million tons of wheat for the amount of $1.89 billion.
